Hey everyone. It seems like yesterday when we were all running like mad (literally) through the streets of LA to support Team Soren. Well thanks to your efforts and all of the generous donations and silent auction purchases, Team Soren raised close to $8,000!!!!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

We will definitely be back next year.

Wishing you and your families all the best during this holiday season and into 2009.

With much love.

Team Soren Success!

Despite 2 flat tires on one teammate's bike, Team Soren did amazing in the LA Tri! Everyone came through safe and sound, having finished down at the LA Live/Staples Center by 10:30.

By pure luck, my family (me, Aaron, Soren, Moira, my Dad and Kathy) decked out in our Team Soren shirts ended up finding Eric's wife Sue and his step-daughter Megan near the finish thanks to Megan's Team Soren T-shirt! When the cyclists finished, they found us and we cheered the runners on to the end.

What a blast! Thanks everyone for your contributions! We're having an post-Tri party/silent auction tonight. I'll update you on the final fundraising after that!

And if you want to add to that tally, just click to your right to donate!

Go Team Soren!

Tomorrow is the Los Angeles Triathlon and Team Soren will be racing for our boy! Team Soren consists of Eric Germansky, who will be doing the entire triathlon, and two relay tri-teams: Chris Webb, Keith Anyon, and Ezra Weisz on our male team and Karen Wilson,
Kristen Van Rooyen, and Susan Reedy on our female team. The lovely Julie Miller had to step down from being on that team due to an injured back. Please think good thoughts for her and for all the athletes to have a good, safe, and successful race!

The Team Soren Support Team will be decked out in our official orange Team Soren T-shirts. They are awesome and I'll be sure to take pictures to show us wearing our colors!

It's not too late to donate! Please click on the donation button to your right and support Team Soren!

Go Team Soren!

Two Weeks and Counting....

Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to support Team Soren. Your support has been inspirational to all of us.

We are rapidly approaching Race Day and I cannot wait. Been running and biking while I have been on the road. I am flying home this afternoon and am looking forward to a final build week before a rest week leading up to the race. Sunday I am taking part in the NIKE HUMAN RACE 10K as a final run. Anyone interested in joing me?

More updates as we get closer.

journey

earlier tonight, i went on my first training ride for the LA Tri since joining Team Soren.

as i clipped into the pedals, i started to think about my journey - and then accepted that this isn't about me. it's about him. this boy i know. so full of life, as yet untainted. so full of promise, as yet undiscovered. so full of potential, as yet unrealized.

chris, ezra and i will combine forces on september 7th in his honor. our strength will be his. one will rise and fall with, under and atop the waves; the next will charge hard and pedal the streets of the city, from west to east; and the next will charge hard on unforgiving concrete. all for him.

soren, as we join you on your journey, i offer these words i know your grandmother would love -

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

It's a Hot One

Ezra here, the "runner" in the running leg of the triathlon. Ran a practice 6 miles at Griffith Park and it was really warm out there. The news about the funds already raised is amazing. If we can double that amount by Friday I will double my mileage on Saturday and run 12 miles. Make me hurt and donate now to Team Soren.

Much Love

Welcome to Team Soren!

This is the official launch of the Team Soren Blog! Here the amazing athletes who have joined Team Soren will updating you on their training for the L.A. Triathlon which is quickly approaching on September 7th. Team Soren has set their fund raising goal at $25,000 for Soren and YOU CAN HELP! To the right you will see a nice yellow DONATE NOW button which will direct you to The Talbert Family Foundation's donation page. Here you can make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to Soren's Fund. Just simply put in the amount you wish to contribute and put that you are donating it to Soren's Fund. ALL the money will then go to paying for Soren's out-of-pocket medical expenses. We know times are tight, but remember, no amount is too small! (for that matter, no amount is too big either!)

Thank you for helping with Team Soren!
